Travel East of Puerto Vallarta into the Sierra Madre to the small mining town of San Sebastian del Oeste. Founded in 1605, this charming colonial town was once a thriving community of 40,000 people, but now is a small village of only 600 residents. Enjoy spectacular scenery on the road out to San Sebastian, as we wind our way through the mountains.
We will tour the UNESCO world heritage site (the colonial center of San Sebastian), and feel its small-town charms. During the course of our tour we will also visit the Quinta Dona Marie Coffee Plantation, and of course hike the mountain trails in search of the many amazing varieties of tropical birds here.
Equipped with our field guides and walking sticks, we will spot many bird species that are indigenous to the San Sebastian area, and your expert birdwatching guide will help you to find and identify them. This tour will present you with a cultural and ecological wonderland.
Schedule: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6:00 AM. This tour is seasonal and runs April through November only.
